Kilt MeasurementsMeasurements for your Kilt

To correctly make you kilt, I will need the following information from you:

  • Your waist measurement, taken at your natural waist (just above your naval), snug

  • Your hip measurement, taken at the widest part of your seat, loose

  • The length of your kilt. Have someone else measure down the side of your hip from about two inches above your natural waist  down to the top of your kneecap (if you want a higher rise than two inches, please specify this when you order your kilt). You may add or subtract about an inch, if you prefer a longer or shorter kilt, but stay within this range.

  • Double take all measurements. I will make your kilt made to the measurements you provide. We cannot be responsible if the measurements you give us are not correct.

  • Give your height and weight. This helps in double-checking your measurements.

If you can make it to the Scottish Tartans Museum, or can find me at a Highland Games or other Scottish festival in the south east, I will be glad to measure you myself.  But there really is no secret in taking these measurements.  You should not feel intimidated.  Just double check yourself, and if you have questions, contact me.
